Who is Marcus Magnusson?
Marcus Magnusson is a true musical maverick.
With a musical journey spanning over two decades and a deliberate departure from mainstream conventions, he is firmly committed to crafting soul-stirring rock and roll.
He, and his music, is full of confidence injecting, positive rock ’n roll attitude. The contagious groove that permeates tracks like ‘No Place Like Home’ and ’Chasing Blue Skies’ is emblematic of Magnusson’s musical identity. With an infectious rhythm, resonating guitar riffs, and a vocal tone that carries a raw, hard-hitting quality, the tracks captivates from the first note. His signature style of gritty rock savvy weaves throughout all his discography and his essence is always omnipresent, wether he draws inspiration from brit pop giants Oasis, guitar groove masters like Malcom Young and Keith Richards or the many organic sounds of rural United States. On December 6th 2024 he released his second full length album, titled 'The Road So Far'.
The album is an energizing musical journey, where Marcus ventures through classic rock and punk territory, while also exploring Latin and Americana elements, while always standing firm in Rock 'n' Roll.
The album consists of the best singles he has released since his debut album, Volume One, back in 2020. Many of these songs has seen success with charting on independent music top lists and seen rotation on several FM-Radio stations over the world. And, always looking forward, he is already done with a couple of songs that will se an early 2025 release date.
Influences
Rock and Roll is my home turf. From The Rolling Stones, through AC/DC and Oasis to Hellacopters. Music that is as much about the sound as the attitude. I pretty much like to skip the 80's, but I find inspiration from early blues records to more contemporary acts.
I more recently found there is so much great country these days and in my teens I was also a fan of powerpop/punk acts like Blink 182.
Guitar
Playing the guitar is essential.
It amplifies everything.
It can be meditational as well as an outlet for energy. From Flamenco to Neo-Classical, it can sound so different yet be the same.
If I were to mention some of my favorite players, I would toss in names like Ritchie Blackmore, both Malcom and Angus Young, Justin Hawkins and Yngwie.
